Extreme right wing opinions are less widespread in Germany than 12
years ago, says a University of Lepzig study. 5.6% of Germans have firm
right-wing ideology. The good news is that compared to 2002, the
numbers have halved.
(...) every fifth German agreed with statements such as "The foreigners come here only to exploit our welfare State".
73.5 percent of West Germans and 84.7 percent of East Germans expressed negative views about asylum seekers . Also, Sinti and Roma (gypsies) are rejected by almost half of the respondents.
