A Maple Shade family arrived home from church last night to find racist graffiti written in chalk on the front of their home.
"Shock I think first, first was a
little bit of shock," said Tamika Rankines, who lives at the home with
her husband and three children.
"When i entered the house, he asked
me if I saw the letters KKK written along this wall, and I did not, so I
immediately came back outside the house and there it was," said Eulith
Rankines, father.
The family tells NBC10's Cydney Long
that in the seven years they've lived in Maple Shade they've never felt
any type of hatred or harassment.
Maple Shade Police are investigating this as a bias incident. Neighbors were also shocked and saddened by what happened.
"I think it's atrocious. I think that
something like this just shouldn't be. We shouldn't have it in this day
and this age," Pat McGovern, neighbor.
Detectives canvassed the neighborhood today and are asking anyone with information to contact police.
