1547- Ivan IV of Russia aka Ivan the Terrible became Tsar of Russia. He
was the first ruler of Russia to assume the title of Tsar.
1581-The English Parliament outlawed Roman Catholicism.
1707-The Scottish Parliament ratified the Act of Union, paving the way for the creation of Great Britain.
1908-Gunther Prien was born in Osterfeld. He became an outstanding
U-Boat Captain in WWII. By far his most famous exploit was the sinking
of the British battleship HMS Royal Oak at anchor in the Home Fleet's
anchorage in Scapa Flow.
1909 Ernest Shackleton’s British expedition reached the area of the South Magnetic Pole.

determined to stay in Berlin and face the final battle against the
Jewish Bolsheviks.
1953-Robert Jay Mathews, Aryan hero, leader of the Order and martyr to
the cause was born in Marfa, Texas to Johnny and Una Mathews.
1979-August Heissmeyer, leading SS member died in Schwäbisch Hall aged 82
.
