On this day November 4th:
1783-Mozart's Symphony No. 36 premiered in Linz, Austria.
1839-The Newport Rising took place. It was the last large scale armed rebellion against authority in mainland Britain.
1843-Nelson’s Column in Trafalgar Square, London was completed.
1918-A communist Revolution began in Germany when reds took over the port in Kiel.
1921-The Sturmabteilung or SA was officially formed by Adolf Hitler after 48 members of the Ordnertruppen (a body of ex-soldiers who protected Nazi meetings) thrashed 800 marxists in a fight at the Hofbraeuhaus in Munich. The Nazis called this event "Saalschlacht" (meeting hall battle).
1922-English explorers Lord Carnarvon and Howard Carter discovered the Tomb of King Tutankhamen, in the Valley of the Kings near Luxor, Egypt. It had been undisturbed since 1337 BC
1955-The rebuilt Vienna State Opera reopened with Ludwig van Beethoven's Fidelio after it was totally destroyed in World War II.
1956-Soviet troops entered Hungary to end the Hungarian anti Jewish Bolshevik revolution that started on October 23. Thousands were killed and the West did nothing!
2008-Communist negro Barack Obama was elected President of the United States.
