Cassation Court rules Roman salute is a crime

Rome - The VI Penal Section of the Court of Cassation has ruled it is a crime to make the Roman salute that praises racism and fascism. The court thereby confirmed the sentence passed by the Florence Appeal Court on a 50-year-old in Florence who, together with others, had used the Roman salute at a public meeting, also chanting slogans "praising racism and the fascist regime." The Supreme Court, with its sentence number 35549 registered today, has declared that the man's appeal stating there was no evidence that the person portrayed in the photograph was him, has now been declared inadmissible.
