On this day Feb 8th: Death of Enoch Powell

On this day February 8th: 1587-Mary, Queen of Scots was executed on suspicion of having been involved in a plot to murder her cousin, Queen Elizabeth I of England. 1855 The 'Devil's Footprints' appeared in snowbound south Devon - 100 miles of cloven hoofprints in a single line. 1861-Confederate States of America organised in Montgomery Alabama 1904-A surprise torpedo attack by the Japanese at Port Arthur, China started the Russo Japanese war. The Japanese were financed entirely by Jewish Bolsheviks in the U.S. who we determined to overthrow the Tsar and take control themselves. 1915-The epic film that glorified the rise of the KKK "Birth of a Nation" opened at the Clune's Auditorium in Los Angeles. 1924-Gee Jon, a Chinese member of the Hip Sing Tong gang became the first man in the U.S. to be executed by lethal gas. 1941-The first convoy of the newly formed Afrika Korps under the command of Lieutenant General Rommel left Naples for Tripoli in Libya. 1942-Fritz Todt German engineer and senior Nazi figure, the founder of Organisation Todt died in a plane crash aged 50. 1942-Japan invaded Singapore. 1944-U-762 sunk off Ireland. 1968-local policemen in Orangeburg, South Carolina fired into a crowd of black communist agitators who were protesting local segregation at a bowling alley. Three died and 27 were injured 1998 Enoch Powell, British politician died in London aged 85. In 1968 he warned of the perils of high immigration with his 1968 'Rivers of Blood' speech.
