On this day Feb 16th: Zulus massacre Whites.

On this day February 16th:
1646-Battle of Great Torrington, Devon – the last major battle of the first English Civil War was fought marking the end of Royalist resistance in the west country.
1838-Weenen Massacre: Hundreds of Voortrekkers along the Blaukraans River, Natal were killed by Zulus. 41 White men, 56 women and 185 children were killed.
1891- Hans Guenther, National Socialist anthropologist and author of ‘Racial Elements of European History’ , was born in Freiburg, Germany.
1922-Heinz-Wolfgang Schnaufer considered one of the top night fighter aces of all time was born in Calw near Stuttgart.
1923-Howard Carter unsealed the burial chamber of Pharaoh Tutankhamun.
1943-The Red Army reconquered Kharkov from the Germans.
