and quartered.for their plot against the vipers’ nest in Parliament.
1865-American Civil War: Robert E. Lee became General-in-Chief of the Confederate army.
1876-The United States ordered all red Indians to move into reservations.
1915-World War I: Germany used poison gas for the first time in the Battle of Bolimów against Russian troops.

at Stalingrad, followed 2 days later by the remainder of his Sixth Army,
ending one of World War II's fiercest battles.

1945-Two of Zhukov’s armies established a bridgehead on the Oder, to the North of Kustrin and less than 40 miles to Berlin.
